Construction of shelter in NIMH

Sai Krishna Teja Foundation (SKTF) has constructed a thatched shelter for the parents of the Special Children.

The parents while waiting for their wards to complete the school in National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped (NIMH) had to spend them in the hot sun as there was no shelter earlier. On hearing about the plight of the parents of the special children, SKTF came forward to construct a thatched shelter on the space provided by NIMH.

The shelter was completed and handed over to NIMH. Now the parents of the special children have a shelter to wait for their wards.

Swasadan – INDEPENDENT LIVING

INDEPENDENT LIVING

krishna-teja-living-independently

To be part of community the persons with mental and development disability (PWID) must be among community and not segregated. Persons with special need should be trained in life skills (toileting, taking bath, dressing and other daily chores) by early identification and systematic training. They should also be provided continuous medical help whenever necessary. From the early stages they must be allowed to mingle with others and encourage them to learn social skills. Persons with special needs must be given opportunity to achieve their full potential by proper training.

Sai Krishna Teja Foundation is sphere heading this cause by continuous campaign and counselling parents, family members and carers.

A typical example is Teja’s independent living.
