Medical Camp

Sai Krishna Teja Foundation organised free medical camp for intellectually impaired persons on 21st June, 08 at their office campus in Hyderabad. Intellectually Impaired persons from various parts of twin cities and from other districts of Andhra Pradesh including Medak, Warangal and RR Distt got benefited from the medical camp. Cases with various medical problems attended the camp.

Specialist Doctors who contributed their kind services to this free medical camp include Epileptologist Dr Zaffer Shah Nawaz, Clinical Psychologist Dr Niranjan Reddy, ENT consultant Dr Lenin,  Dental consultant  Dr Rajaylaxmi, Ortho consultant Dr Sailesh, Peadiatrician Dr Khaleel Ahmed, Speech consultant Mr Naik and Special educator Mr Ramesh.

Mrs Lata, HOD Dept of Psychology from St Anns Women’s College along with 10 final year students contributed their volunteer services to the camp. IT Professionals from Birlasoft also helped as volunteers to organise the program.

Total 75 persons with intellectual impairement could get benefited from the free medical services given in the medical camp.

Sai KrishnaTeja Foundation organised free medical camp exclusively for persons with disabilities on 21st June , 2007at MM Hospital, Mehdipatnam, Hyderabad  where  free medicine according to Doctors’ prescription were distributed.  General as well as specialized health check-up like EEG for FITS cases, HB and bone density test etc for anaemic and malnourished children were done.

Specialized doctors like Dr Zaffer Shah Nawaz, Senior Epileptologist (Global Hospital); Dr Mrs. Srilata,ENT specialist (Yashoda Hospital);Dr Mrs. Fatima,  Gynaecologist(MM Hospital); Dr Wahid Ali, Orthopedician(MM Hospital); Dr Niyaz Ahmad, Paediatrician(MM Hospital);Dr M Baig, General Physician(MM Hospital); Ms Nasreen, Nutritionist(MM Hospital); 

Dentist (MM Hospital);Dr Majid etc contributed their specialized services to Persons with disabilities . More than 175 people with special need were benefited in this medical camp. Free snacks, water, and caps were distributed to all the patients visited.

Distribution Of Aids And Applances

Sai Krishna Teja Foundation supported Persons with Disability on 28th July, 07 under various programs conducted that day. Two children named Pawan, 14 years, a multiple disabled child and Farhana Yasmin, 14 years, an orthopaedic handicapped girl were given callipers. Baby Naznin, 4 years, a Mentally challenged and Cerebral Palsy child and N. Bharathi, 12 years, a multiple disabled child were given adaptive shoes. Rajashekar, 13 years, a CP child was given walking stick. All above supports are provided under AAROGYA scheme of SKTF. Under AAHAR scheme SKTF supported for the food needs of ten BPL children living in the hostel of Sai Vikas Special School and Vocational Training Centre for MR children.

The family of Krishna Chaitanya, 17years, a multiple disabled boy with associate problem of fits was also adopted that day by Sai Krishna Teja Foundation. SKTF is taking care of Krishna chaitanya’s medical and food needs as he was diagnosed as anaemic and undernourished along with fits problem.

Promotional Economic Empowerment among Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)

Sai Krishna Teja Foundation organised a workshop to promote economic rehabilitation among literate/vocationally trained Persons with Disabilities on 11th August, 07 at Vocational Rehabilitation Centre, Vidya Nagar, Hyderabad.

NGOs working in the field of disabled welfare, representatives of special schools and vocational training centre, Parents/ guardians and siblings of PWDs, qualified professionals from National Institute of Mentally Handicappers, Secunderabad and potential employers actively participated in the workshop.

Objectives of the workshop was to bring awareness in employers about their social responsibilities towards Person With Disability, helping training centres of Persons With Disabilities to understand the required skill training and providing a wider platform to parents of  Persons with Disabilities, employers and training centres  to interact directly on various issues related to economic empowerment of disabled person.

Dr. Amrutaiya, MD, Andhra Pradesh Vikalangula Cooperative Corporation graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and he appreciated this effort to bring all the stakeholders on one platform for economic empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. Dr Gangadhar Rao, Retd Dep. Dir. VRC, Hyderabad and Dr Krishna Chandra, Dep. Dir VRC, Hyderabad were guest of honour.

Free  Dental Camp

Sai Krishna Teja Foundation, Hyderabad organised Free Dental Camp for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) on 29th September, 07. Total 7 dental surgeon and dental consultants from Happy Smile dental hospital and Sai Krupa dental hospital contributed their kind services to PWDs in this Camp. Volunteers from JSS Polytechnic for Physically Handicapped helped to organise the program smoothly. Total 38 Physically and Mentally Challenged persons availed the services of specialized Dentists.

Free Psycological Counselling

Sai Krishna Teja Foundation organised Free Psychological Counselling for PWDs and their families on 7th Nov, 2007 at their office premises in Hyderabad. 15 cases were given required guidance and counselling. Rehabilitation psychologist Dr. Madhu Singh took group counselling session as well as individual counselling sessions.

It was a moment of great satisfaction when Mohan Krishna, 28 years old blind boy went back smiling after the session. He was brought by his old parents who are working as security guard at an apartment complex. Mohan had lost interest in living his life after loosing his vision completely.

 

Awareness Rally On World Disability Day (Dec 3rd)

Sai Krishna Teja Founation ( SKTF) conducted rural awareness program in
agdevpur village, Medak Distt, AP on 28th June, 08. Special Educator and Rehabilitation sychologist from SKTF spoke to rural people and spread awareness regarding prevention, early identification and timely management of mental retardation. SKTF Team also visited Primary Health Center at Jagdevpur and distributed information brouchers and pamphles among patients. Information for early identification and early referral for mental handicap was given to Sister incharge of the health center Ms Madhvi. Sarpanch Mr Hari Babu shared information regarding status and number of MR cases in the village. He congratulated SKTF for taking such initiative of ringing awareness in rural areas and expressed his willingness to help SKTF for the cause.

On the occasion of World Disability (3rd Dec, 07) Sai Krishna Teja Foundation conducted an awareness rally in Hyderabad where total 150 people participated to create awareness in society about Disability. Aim of the rally was to educate people about causes and prevention of Disability and to sensitize and create awareness in civil society regarding Rights & Benefits provided to Persons with Disabilities by Government of India. Pamphlets and handouts on above mentioned topic were distributed.

Girls of St.Ans Degree College, Mehdipatnam and IT Professionals of Birla Soft, Hyderabad participated in the rally to make the event successful. Message through Sai Krishna Teja Foundation printed material, placards & Banners could reach more than 3000 people. Rally was escorted by Hyderabad traffic police.

Professionals of Birla Soft and Girls from St.Ans Girls College   extended their full co-operation and assured to help Sai Krishna Teja Foundation in its focused efforts for the cause of Disability in future too.

Principal of St.Ans Girls College flagged off the rally and appreciated Sai Krishna Teja Foundation for its various work for disable welfare.

Managing Trustee of Sai Krishna Teja Foundation and father of KrishnaTeja, Mr. Bh. Hari Babu shared his feeling with the participants and expressed his special thanks to them.

Sai Krishna Teja Foundation donated a Wheel Chair on that day to 23 year’s old mentally challenged boy, Abhilash who is also Orthopaedically Handicapped  and is residing in a Hostel for special children“Samarth” in Hyderabad.

 
Donated Wheelchair On 3rd Dec To Pwds

Krishna Teja, the inspiration of Sai Krishna Teja Foundation gifted wheel chair to 23 years old boy, Abhilaash. Abhilaash is intellectual impairment and is having associate problem of locomotor disability. Abhilaash is staying in a hostel for mentally challenged named Samarth.  

Workshop for the professionals working with Mentally Challenged

Sai Krishna Teja Foundation (SKTF) organised one day workshop for the professionals working with Persons with Intellectual Impairment at NIMH auditorium, Sec’bad on 29th Jan, 08. Workshop was designed to equip the participants with better understanding of practical helping skills and counselling skills while dealing with mentally challenged person and their families. Sessions were taken on stress management to help the professionals balance their personal and professional life.

Dr Saroj Arya, Associate Professor, NIMH graced the occasion as chief guest and stressed on the need of helping the suffering family with patience.  Dr C Rajamauli, Psychologist and President of Hyderabad Psychological Association and Dr P Swathi, Counselling psychologist were the resource persons in the workshop.

Participating professionals were from almost all area serving the field of mental disability like special educators, speech therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, vocational instructors and students of NIMH doing their M.Phil in Rehab. Psychology. Representatives of organisations like Aathmiya spl.school, Sweekaar- Upkaar, Sriguru Sankalpam, Swayamkrushi, PAAC, Sai Vikas special school, Andhra Mahila Sabha and Lekhadeep etc enthusiastically interacted during the session. CEO of SKTF gave vote of thanks and reassured for conducting such beneficial program in future.

3RD ANNIVERSARY DAY CELEBRATION OF SAI KRISHNA TEJA FOUNDATION

     Sai Krishna Teja Foundation celebrated its 3rd foundation day with intellectually impaired children in Hyderabad on 24 Feb, 08. Sai Krishna Teja Foundation team visited Sri Vidhya Centre for Mentally Retarded children, Parent Association for Autistic Children (PAAC) and Samarth lekhadeep at Hyderabad and supported persons with mental retardation and persons with autism according to their need.

Sai Krishna Teja Foundation announced to support for monthly medicine of 30 mentally challenged children staying in Sri Vidhya Centre, Hostel at Secunderabad. School uniform and playing material were given to 12 below poverty line physically and mentally challenged person staying in Samarth, a boy’s hostel for Mentally Challenged. Cheque was given to PAAC for buying teaching material for Autistic Children. PAAC is giving training to 12 persons with autism in their activity centre at Sainikpuri, Hyderabad.

Free medical Camp for Persons with Disabilities

Sai Krishna Teja Foundation organised Free Medical Camp for Persons with Disabilities on 27th March 2008 where total 9 specialized doctors contributed their kind services for this cause. Specialized doctors include Dr.Zaffer Shah Nawaz, Consultant Epileptologist, Global hospital, Dr.Khalid Ahmed, Consultant Paediatrician, Medwin Hospital, Dr.Lenin, Consultant ENT Specialist, Dr.Rehman, Consultant orthopaedician, Dr.Venkatramana, Consultant General Physician, Dr.Rajshekhar and Dr.Rajyalaxmi, Consultant dental surgeon.

Total 123 Persons with Disabilities visited the Medical Camp along with their Parents or Teachers and consulted the specialized doctors for their medical problems. Free medicine was also distributed by Sai Krishna Teja Foundation according to Doctors Prescription.

            Organisation like Sri Vidhya Centre for special children, East marredpally, Sri GuruSankalpam, Nallakunta, Lekhadeep, Hyderabad, Swayamkrushi, Hyderabad, PAAC, Secunderabad etc brought their children to the Medical Camp. Persons with Disabilities from various parts of the city also got benefited after visiting the Medical Camp.

 Physically challenged volunteers for JSS college of Architecture also participated in the camp and helped to organise the camp smoothly.

TV9 covered the activities of the camp and their representatives spoke to doctor, cases who visited the camp and the staff of Sai Krishna Teja Foundation regarding the medical camp and telecasted a story on the activities of SKTF in their program Evoru Okeru on 7th April, 08.

RURAL CAMP FOR MENTALLY CHALLENGED:

Sai Krishna Teja Foundation conducted Rural awareness, screening and medical camp for persons with disability (PWDs) in Aliabad village of RR Distt, Andhra Pradesh on 20th April, 08. Total 128 PWDs cases from near by four villages (Lalgadi, malakpet,Jaganguda,Aliabad,Magidpur) visited the camp where a team of doctors, special educators, physiotherapists, speech pathologists and rehabilitation psychologists were available for consultation and screening of various physical and mental disabilities. Information pamphlets and posters were distributed to generate awareness regarding causes and preventions of disabilities. Information was given to rural people regarding benefits and concession available to PWDs.

RURAL AWARENESS AND SCREENING CAMP FOR MENTALLY CHALLENGED:

Sai Krishna Teja Foundation organised rural screening and awareness camp for intellectually impaired person in Mudchintalpally village(laxmapur, keshavapuram,kolthur,muduchinthala pally thanda,keshava puram thanda and potharam) of Shmirpet mandal, RR Distt, AP on 11th May, 08. Objective of this camp was to generate awareness in rural people regarding causes and prevention of intellectual impairment. A team of special educators, speech pathologist and physiotherapist and rehabilitation psychologist participated in screening of intellectually impaired children. Proper guidance and counselling was provided for early identification, early referral and management plan for mental retardation.
Total 45 cases of intellectual impairment were screened in the camp.People from five near by villages visited the rural camp. 

Support Programs Under Various Schems Of Sktf

ADOPTED KRISHNA CHAITANYA

PSai Krishna Teja Foundation rehabilitated the family of Krishna Chaitanya, a Multiple Disabled 17years old boy by adopting the family and is taking care of their food & medical need. Parents of Krishna chaitanya are elderly people with poor health and poor financial condition. 

SUPPORTING MAHESH

SKTF is supporting a 12 years orphan Mentally Challenged boy Mahesh for his living and training who is staying with Hyderabad Council for Human Welfare, Hyderabad, He is presently getting special education and training at Anurag Special School. He was found on streets of Hyderabad by HCHW and was kept in their hostel. Later HCHW approached SKTF to support for Mahesh education, food and other needs.

SKTF is taking all care for Mahesh’s education, school uniform, books, school fee, hostel expenses etc

SUPPORTING RAJA SHAKAR

SKTF is supporting Raja Shaker, a 12 years old Cerebral Palsy child for his physiotherapy and aids which is required for the correction of his disability. Raja Shaker belongs to a below poverty line family. His father sells vegetables and mother works as a maid servant.

SUPPORTED SAIDINAKAR

Provided support to a 10years old multiple disabled boy, Sai Dinakar for his food & medicine. His mother, School teacher by profession is the only parent taking care of the boy. He is diagnosed for severe mental retardation with associate problem of fits. He is neither able to walk independently nor speak clearly. He goes to a special school for training and is dependant for every activity on others. He was diagnosed anaemic and was advised quality food along with regular medicine and therapies.

Sai Krishna Teja Foundation is supporting Harinath, 5 years old multiple disabled child for his all medical and food need. He stays in state home at Hyderabad with his mother who is a widow and is taking care of her two small children alone.

SUPPORTING SRI GURUSANKALPAM

Sai Krishna Teja Foundation is supporting Sri Gurusankalpam, a special school and vocational training center for mentally challenged. It is a parent association where around 30 children are coming every day for special education and other training and therapies. Sai Krishna Teja Foundation is taking care of all the departments of Sri Gurusankalpam for giving better quality training and education to mentally challenged children.

SUPPORTED AATHMIYA FOR PHYSIOTHERAPY DEPT

Krishna Teja inspiration behind Sai Krishna Teja Foundation inaugurated the Physiotherapy department of Aathmeeya Special School, Hyderabad, on 28-09-07.

Sai Krishna Teja Foundation has donated towards construction of physiotherapy department at Aathmeeya special school for the benefit of mentally challenged children.

SUPPORTING SAI VIKAS SCHOOL, WARANGAL

Sai Krishna Teja Foundation is helping 10 below poverty line mentally challenged children. These special children stay in a hostel for Mentally Challenged named Sai Vikas Special School and Hostel at Warangal in Andhra Pradesh.

SUPPORTING SRI VIDYA CENTER

Sai Krishna Teja Foundation is donating towards medical need of 30 mentally challenged children who are saying in the hostel of Sri Vidya center for mentally challenged, Secunderabad. Most of the children are either orphan or belong to very poor family.

Placement Cell News

Sai Krishna Teja Foundation announced the opening of a Placement Cell “SWAYATTATA” on 11th Aug, 07.

This cell is helping Persons with Disabilities in getting employment. It is also promoting self employment and helping skilled Persons with Disabilities to start their own business according to their skills.

A Step towards Independent Living:

Sai Krishna Teja Foundation Placement cell could help 5 Persons with disabilities to get open employment in mainstream society in which 2 people are mentally challenged and other 3 candidates are affected by locomotor disability. Their details are given below.

  1. Md.Riaz (Orthopaedic handicapped) 24 years old boy has been employed as a Data Operator with IT Consultancy “Cerindus Ventures” at Hyderabad.

  2. V.Gopal (Mentally challenged) 37 years old boy has been employed in “Bhagawathi Ana Labs Ltd” an environment consultancy as Xerox Operator.
  3. Prashanth Reddy (Mentally Challenged) 27 years old boy has been employed in “Sai Krishna Teja Foundation” as Office Boy.
                
  4. Subhan (Orthopaedic Handicapped) 19 years old boy has been employed in “Prithvi Elevators” as ­­­­Counter sales person.

  5. Kiran (person with multiple disability) 30 years old has been employed with cerindus ventures, Hyderabad. He is bedridden and is working from home.
